Exciting times at Alfred’s Brewery as the world starts to return to the new ‘normal’, pubs opening and some sunshine at last. We have also just agreed to sponsor the all new Padel Courts at Winchester Racquets and Fitness Club (WRFC).
What is Padel? Fun, exciting and sociable, Padel is a rapidly growing sport similar to tennis, but played with a ‘padel’ racquet on an enclosed court about 1/3rd the size of a tennis court, with the walls being part of the game (where Tennis meets Squash?). Primarily a doubles game it is great exercise and suitable for all ages and experience levels.
There are currently 52 venues across the UK and WRFC are one of the most recent clubs to add Padel Courts to their portfolio, with two new courts being completed in October 2020 and a third one in plan for 2022. We at Alfred’s Brewery love playing Padel are very pleased to be able to support this great sport and watch it grow at WRFC.
Padel has already proved very popular at WRFC with well attended mix in sessions and taster sessions which are designed for everybody, from those totally new to racquet sports right through to experienced racquet players looking to try something new. If you fancy having a go then please contact the club directly through the website or contact reception to arrange.
Padel is great exercise, and of course after a good work out there is nothing better than a cold drink – why not try a Saxon Bronze or Winchester Pale Ale on draught.
